The word “worship” embodies many things. In the Hebrew language, it means to bow down and give honor to a deity. In English, it also means to adore, glorify, honor, be devoted to, and to love someone or something. Jesus said those who love Him obey His commands (John 14:23). That means He does not judge your love for Him by your emotional state. On the contrary, He looks at your actions to determine if you really love Him. Consequently, as you live your life in accordance with His Word, you prove to Jesus that you love Him, and you exemplify true worship to the world.
In terms of weight loss and eating disorders, "many live as enemies of the Cross of Christ" and have made their god their stomachs (Philippians 3:18-19) as the sins of gluttony and failing to obey God’s command to eat and drink for His glory (1 Corinthians 10:31) run unchecked in their lives. They do not honor God with their bodies (1 Corinthians 6:19-20) by living a healthy lifestyle to maintain their bodies so He will take pleasure in it and be honored (Haggai 1:8). Instead, they follow the whims of their stomach's cravings and their obsessive eating disorders, and their idolatrous behavior results in the destruction of the temple of the Holy Spirit, which is their body, (1 Corinthians 6:19) just as the Lord allowed the physical temple to be destroyed due to Judah's idol worship (Jeremiah 52:17-23). The Father desires that we worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24) and that we actively practice true worship on a daily basis by honoring God with our bodies and our spirits (1 Corinthians 6:20). In order to do so, you must first accept the truth. The truth is that you are overweight or suffering from an eating disorder because you are sinning against God. Then you must humble yourself before Him, which is another term for “worship” by the way, confess your sins, and repent, meaning you express true sorrow for your behavior and turn away from it. Finally, you must obey God's command to eat and drink for His glory. Then you will be a shining light to the world that proves worship is a lifestyle. . Working out can make your muscles sore, cause cramps, and leave you feeling fatigued. Likewise, going to therapy to talk about your eating disorder can often make you feel worse about yourself instead of better. As a result, sometimes it is truly difficult to make yourself get up and do it all over again. I know you have heard it before from countless others, but it truly is worth it! What you are experiencing is no different from what a mother goes through to deliver her child. Yes, there is pain involved, but in the end all that matters is the new life she has given birth to. It is the same for you! Right now, you are in labor. You are pushing yourself to deliver the healthy and fit version of you that is buried underneath the fat and cowering behind the eating disorder. God says, "My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you" (Galatians 4:19), please DON'T GIVE UP! Labor on! PUSH THROUGH IT!
Jesus said those who believe in Him would not only have the ability to perform the same miracles He did, but they would also do even greater works than He had (John 14:12). So why do Christians act helpless, hopeless, and powerless, especially when it comes to something so minor in comparison to His miracles as health and fitness? We bury our heads in the sand during every crisis. We roll over to play dead when hard trials come. We feel like losing 100, 250, or 500 pounds is an impossible feat. We can’t even imagine living life free of an eating disorder, so why even try? If you have been given the ability to heal the sick, raise the dead, and cast out demons as Christ did, why can't you see that losing weight is NOTHING in comparison? Why do you believe that overcoming your eating disorder is an impossible task? With God, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE (Matthew 19:26). Change your perspective. When you feel like you can’t, PUSH past the negative thoughts and feelings and emphatically declare, "I can do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13). When the labor pains intensify, embrace and walk in the authority that has been given to you through Jesus Christ our Lord! Speak life to your situation, and take charge of your health. Then you will finally obtain and live the healthy, fit, and victorious life you were meant to have! If you are ready to give birth to the healthy and fit version of yourself by eating and drinking for the glory of God, then ORDER YOUR COPY of the Eating as an Act of Worship Teacher’s Edition TODAY! We do not like to think or talk about death, but it is happening all around us every day. The truth is death eventually touches everyone's life, and where your spirit spends eternity depends on what you believe. There are lots of people in the world who do not see the need for Jesus Christ in their lives. Many of them are overweight and suffering from obesity-related diseases. Others have eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. Nevertheless, they are dying and spending eternity in hell after a hellish existence on earth.
"How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher" (Romans 10:14-21)? I know you want to lose weight and overcome your eating disorder to look good, feel better, attract a spouse, stop taking medication to treat an obesity-related disease, end therapy sessions for an eating disorder, or prevent an untimely death, but I have to tell you a secret... It is really not all about you! You are commanded to eat and drink for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31) for the same reason the Israelites were commanded to abstain from eating unclean things. God said to do it in order, "To be holy because I am holy" (Leviticus 11:44). In other words, the Israelites were to reflect the glory of God down to the last detail, so their pagan, idol worshipping neighbors would see and be drawn to the One True Living God. You, too, are commanded to "let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 5:16). The problem is the Church has lost Its witness and is disqualified in this regard because believers no longer discipline their bodies for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 9:27). 2 Corinthians 10:4 explains the problem best. It states, "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God for pulling down strongholds, casting out arguments and any high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience once your obedience is fulfilled." Judgment always starts at the House of God. God commands you to obey Him by eating and drinking for His glory so that His redemption work to save this sinful generation can continue through you! Otherwise, death is simply a change of address for the unbeliever who dies from an obesity-related disease due to committing the sin of gluttony and for the anorexic who starves herself because she never heard that her body was the temple of the Holy Spirit and that she must honor God with her body by eating and drinking for His glory. If you’re ready to fully obey God by eating and drinking for His glory in order to draw others to His perfect Will for health and fitness, then order your copy of the Eating as an Act of Worship Teacher’s Edition today! In the book, you will learn the biblical principles regarding the body, dieting, exercising, and maintaining a healthy body for the glory of God! Don’t procrastinate! Order your copy at Amazon.com and start serving the One True God in every aspect of your life, including your eating habits today! We live in a world of instant gratification. We want immediate responses to our questions, fast food, and overnight weight loss success. Yet we hypocritically say the person who provided a quick but wrong response is incompetent. We get angry and demand a refund when we do not get exactly what we ordered at the drive through. We demand our refund when the $19.99 weight loss wonder pill failed to deliver the promised results in 30 days. None of this is of the Father.
Exodus 13:17-18 states, “And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, ‘Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt.’ But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.” In other words, God took the Israelites the long way around instead of taking the shortcut that was readily available because He knew the dangers ahead of them and that they were too weak to fight another battle. Unlike us, our God is patient (Numbers 14:18, 2 Peter 3:9). He strategically planned all of creation from its beginning to its end before laying the foundation of the universe, time, and space. He carefully, lovingly, fearfully and wonderfully made man in His image, and He teaches us to be like Him by reminding us in His Word that to everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heavens (Ecclesiastes 3:1). Since we are made in His image, those who have been redeemed should reflect His holiness more and more each day. Therefore, patience should be growing and blossoming within you as the Fruit of the Spirit is cultivated in the spiritual soil of your spirit. Stop being so quick to get angry during rush hour traffic! Stop losing faith because the answer to your prayers did not present itself an hour later. Stop giving up on your diet and exercise plans because you did not lose one hundred (100) pounds in two (2) weeks! You did not gain three hundred (300) pounds overnight, so you cannot expect to lose it that quickly. Likewise, recovering from an eating disorder will take time, so do not expect all of your negative behaviors to evaporate overnight. Learn to trust God and His timing for EVERYTHING! His ways are not our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8). The delay in traffic may have been God's way of protecting you from an accident. Your order could have been wrong to keep you from getting food poisoning. Likewise, you may be on a plateau for a spiritual reason instead of a physical one. Plainly speaking, it may be taking you longer to lose weight or fully recover from an eating disorder because God is taking you the long way around. The person in your office who lost one hundred (100) pounds may have had gastric bypass surgery or taken other drastic measures such as consuming dangerous pills that promise rapid results without changing eating habits. The person you admire may look healthy and fit, but they secretly binge and purge on a regular basis. That is not God’s Will for your life. He will deliver you safely to the Promised Land of Healthy and Fit for Life and help you to defeat all of the giants in the land one battle at a time, but your patience is necessary to win the health and fitness war! If you are ready to trust God’s timing and patiently implement His health and fitness plan for your life, ORDER YOUR COPY of the Eating as an Act of Worship Teacher’s Edition TODAY!
